Hey,
We think that the Rangsit student's concept of the shark is interesting. It gives meaning to the shape of the island, as is the case of a sharks body the majority of the action is under water, with only the fin being visible. This is then reflected in the calmer residential areas being above ground, as in seeking refuge from the chaos of the shark under the water line, while the "Extreme play and adventure" areas (as they put it) are under ground.
One idea that Katrina has suggested, is that the glass tubes that offer access to below ground could perhaps be extruded past the above ground level, again like the sharks fin to indicate the presence of the action below. The tubes could be seen poking through the residential "calmness" to allow small glimpses of the touristy "action" aspect below.
Matt & Katrina.

Yeah you guys are probably right there. It sounds like a good concept to use the shark in that way!
ReplyDeleteWhat form are we using for the residential structures and the entertainment structures? Will the entertainment still stay as bubbles? Im not sure if its very practical but it is aesthetically interesting. And seeing as the Residential buildings are on top in the "calmer" region perhaps the simple geometric buildings are appropriate to the concept.
