I agree the site should be left as is. I think we should explore the concept of the shark further in the design of the above and below surface structures. It is difficult to interpret the deeper concept of the Rangsit student's work (most is written in their language). What is your interpretation of their reasoning and motivation of shark island?

It doesn't say (as far as we know) that the island is man made so I would assume that the concept has come from the form of the island that because it has a shark fin like cliff it is called shark island. Haha now that I read your blog again maybe that's not what you meant. Perhaps the island is quiet small so therefore the living is on the surface to give the occupants fresh air, views, sun etc and the entertainment, which is probably all indoor activities anyway (such as shoppping, movies, bowling...), are underground where it won't effect the interior feel much. I would also conclude maybe they were aiming for a futuristic city, seeing as people are travelling in glass tubes. Maybe this should be reflected in our design of the building on top and below?!
